are many places to find the meanings of various acronyms, abbreviations, and
other words used in discussing prostate cancer. On this website, I have put the
meaning of acronyms/definitions in sections where they are used. Here we
provide links to some of the on-line resources and some new definitions that
we are now using in our discussions of hrpca.
HDPC - high
dose pulsed calcitriol (.5mcg/kg of body weight, one per week, day before
having taxotere).
LATP -
an attempt to define a 'treatment packet'. In this case, L=leukine and
A=accutane.
TDE -
Transdermal Estrogen Patches. A source of estradiol.
Useful as a 2nd line hormone therapy.
ASCO's
Cancer.net website contains a vast
amount of information on cancer, including the four part series on oncology
terms.
